Charlotte FC are reportedly closing in on the signing of U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Luca de la Torre from Celta Vigo, according to The Athletic. The 27-year-old arrives after a steady 2025 loan spell with San Diego FC, where he made 37 appearances and played a key role in the club’s being first in the Western Conference and their playoff push. The transfer would mark a return to Major League Soccer for the 27-year-old after several seasons in Europe, adding another experienced international to Charlotte’s midfield group.As part of the reported agreement, San Diego FC will receive $50,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) for de la Torre’s MLS rights.
