A Humbling Fall from Grace
Back in 2019, Raheem Sterling was lauded as 'the best player in the world' after a sensational performance against Atalanta for Manchester City. Fast forward to 2025, and Sterling finds himself sidelined at Chelsea, with his last competitive appearance for the club dating back to May 2024.
Forgotten Birthday
Despite recognition from the Three Lions and his former club Manchester City, Chelsea decided to overlook Sterling's recent birthday. The 82-cap England international is seemingly a distant memory at Stamford Bridge as he struggles to find his place in the squad.
Uncertain Present, Unpredictable Future
Sterling's £50 million move to Chelsea in 2022 has not yielded the expected results, with only 19 goals in 81 appearances for the club. A lackluster loan spell at Arsenal further dented his reputation, leaving him in limbo as he watches his teammates take the field without him.
Seeking Alternatives
With no prospects of first-team action at Chelsea, Sterling is left to train with the U21 squad or on his own. Reports suggest that the English winger is keeping his football passion alive through his children and involvement in his academy, as he seeks to stay engaged despite the setbacks.
A Way Forward
As speculations arise regarding potential moves, including a mooted switch to Wrexham or interest from Bayern Munich, Sterling faces a crucial juncture in his career. With 18 months left on his lucrative contract, renegotiation or a wage cut may be necessary to secure a fresh start elsewhere.
